The town of New Wes Valley is holding its annual fall business fair on September 4th, from 10 am to 5pm at the Beothic Arena. The town is also celebrating it’s cultural heritage with a community (kay-lee) Ceili, featuring Champion Irish Dancer Shawn Silver and his high energy show which is currently touring the province. What do false teeth, a disco ball, and a duct tape canoe have in common?
They are all items recovered from along Canada’s shorelines during the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup!
With over 1,000 cleanup sites registered across Canada, it is not too late to register for the 17th annual Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, presented by Loblaw Companies Limited, as a Site Coordinator or Cleanup Participant.
Most shoreline litter originates from land and land-based activities, so by stepping up and signing up, we are all taking action to stop one of the most widespread pollution problems endangering our oceans and waterways.
Past shoreline cleanups have uncovered everything from stolen cars to wedding dresses. Wonder what unusual items may be found along your shoreline this year? Register today!
Registration as a Site Coordinator ends September 10, 2010, but anyone can sign up as a Cleanup Participant until September 18, 2010.

The 6th Annual Flatrock Penitential Pilgrimage: “Giving God a chance
to break through to us amid the distractions of daily life.” takes place on September 11. The event starts 10:30 am at the corner of Torbay and Windgap Roads (Duffett's Parking Lot) and proceeds on foot and car to the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes with pauses for prayer enroute. Who can come? Anyone who needs things! Nothing is being sold – EVERYTHING IS FREE! If you need it, we might have it! Drop by between 1-5, and take what you need...and you don’t need to bring anything. There will also be a FREE BBQ!
HAVE STUFF?
You can drop off the following NEW or GENTLY USED items beginning at 12 pm: Electronics (TVs, DVD players, game consoles and games, CD players); Small kitchen & household appliances (toasters, coffee makers, bread makers, irons/ironing boards, space heaters, fans, hand tools, etc.) * Sports equipment & games (balls, golf clubs, racquets, balls, board & card games, etc.) * Household goods (dishes sets, bedding sets, curtains, high chairs, playpens, bath & kitchen towels, curtain rods, kitchen items, tools, etc.); Other (new/unopened beauty products, wallets, purses, etc.)
Please make sure all items are clean and in working order, and have all parts...NO JUNK! For logistical reasons and ease of distribution, we will NOT be accepting clothes, toys or large furniture.

Pioneer Club will be starting again this year at the Salvation Army Corner Brook Citadel on Clarence Street. Registration starts on Sept. 20th @ 6:30 PM at the Church. (Cost of Registration is $50.00 per child for the whole year.) it's open to children ages 5 and up.
