Sherry Griffin

Sherry L. Griffin – Station Manager

The lovely and talented lady of Lighthouse Radio, Station Manager, Sherry Griffin, has been involved in Christian radio for over 35 years. Sherry first got involved with Lighthouse as a teenager back in the 1980s. Her only complaint about working in radio is that her friends can’t hear her too well when she walks under a bridge!

Sherry is very proud of her Newfoundland heritage, and the fact that Lighthouse has such an amazing history in our province. She is thrilled at being a part of such a unique ministry and getting the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people through Lighthouse. Her vision for Lighthouse as the ministry continues to grow, is to follow the Lord’s leading, and share God’s message of hope through Jesus Christ, with as many people as possible.

Nancy Kroeker

Nancy Kroeker – Senior Accounting Assistant

Nancy joined our station family during the summer of 2022. Not only will you hear her voice when you call, but you may also hear her over the airwaves from time to time. If you’re wondering why her last name sounds familiar, it’s because her husband, Kevin, was our Music Director several years ago.

Nancy is a mom of three boys, so she’s a bit busy most of the time. When she’s not in the office, you’ll find her at home in the country, preferably sitting by a good bonfire, or on her knees in the family garden. One of her favorite passions is the sport of powerlifting. She has given many years of dedication to the sport and is a national competitor on the Canadian stage, competing against the best of the best.

Nancy has dedicated her life to Jesus. In 2004, she and her husband were baptized and keep God as the foundation in their marriage. They also raise their boys with these values and the love of Jesus, enjoying a beautiful life under His guidance and teachings. Nancy is excited to be a part of our team and is looking forward to hearing from our listeners.

Luis Capote

Luis Capote – Public Relations / Broadcasting Coordinator

Luis Capote is a native of Cuba. He left communist Cuba with his immediate family for Costa Rica, then later moved to Canada. He’s been married for 31 years to the love of his life, Xenia, and they have one daughter who is teaching in Colorado.

Luis’ life revolves around ministry, for several years with the youth, either teaching Sabbath School classes or co-directing the Pathfinder Club. His latest experience was with youth camps at Camp Woody Acres. Luis finds working with the youth is a rewarding experience. He has also enjoyed preaching in different churches, but his favourite ministry is Prison Ministries.

Radio has always been a passion for Luis. The opportunities to reach individuals who are thirsting for God are exciting! He looks forward to praying with our listeners, as prayer is the most rewarding part of his life.

Psalms 91:1 is Luis’ favourite Bible verse. “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust’”. Luis says: “I have found that if I am in His shelter, He never leaves me. Some of our listeners may be having a difficult time right now. This verse, I hope, will give them the encouragement needed to trust in God.”

Brian Matthews

Brian Matthews – Chief Engineer

Brian began his career in broadcasting at Lighthouse’s Freshwater Road studios when he was 15 — it was 1968. Since then he’s worked in commercial radio in Toronto, Port Hawkesbury (Nova Scotia), and St. John’s. When he could, he volunteered his engineering services here at Lighthouse for some 30 years. In 2011, God returned him to his roots in broadcasting — Lighthouse FM — and he’s happy to be back. His role here is to take care of the technical side of Lighthouse FM, the equipment that provides the sound that you hear from your radio, Bell Satellite TV, or computer. If you have any problems or questions about the technical side of Lighthouse FM, you can email Brian at bmatthews@voar.org.
